Subscribe To Our Feed

A lot of people want to know more about the mysterious drink called Absinthe it “How do I make Absinthe?”, the drink favored by the likes of Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso and Oscar Wilde and commonly known as the Green Fairy or La Fee Verte.

There are three main ways to make Absinthe yourself at home:-
1.Distilling Absinthe using herbs or steeping herbs in alcohol without distillation.
2.Using a herbal blend kit.
3.Using an Absinthe essence.

How To Make Absinthe by Steeping?

Distilling Absinthe liquor at home is not to be recommended and is actually illegal in many countries, including the United States, unless you have a license. To make Absinthe first herbs like wormwood, green aniseed, anise and fennel are distilled with alcohol base and then herbs like lemon balm, petite wormwood and hyssop are added to add colour.

To use steeping method, add the wormwood to a neutral alcohol and let the mixture remain undisturbed for a fortnight in a cool dark place. Filter out the wormwood and then add other classic Absinthe herbs like aniseed, fennel, anise, hyssop, angelica and lemon balm. Allow it to settle for a week or so and then filter and taste.

In absence of distillation you can not make true Absinthe.

Use of Herbal Blend Kit In Making Absinthe?

There are many different companies online selling Absinthe kits.Thujone, a wormwood constituent that is perceived to cause psychedelic effects. Studies now state that thujone is only dangerous only in huge quantities.

Mostly kits provides you with an Absinthe herbal blend to mix with alcohol, an Absinthe finishing blend and a micron filtration system to filter the liquor. No distillation is required so this will not make a true Absinthe, it is only a bit hard to get enough thujone from the herbs.

How Do I Make Absinthe Using Essences?

Absintheliquor.com produce Absinthe essences using wormwood, aniseed and fennel and distill them by high tech carbon dioxide distillation. Mix an essence with neutral colour alcoholic drink like vodka to make your own real Absinthe. Absinthe industry also uses these essences and so you know you are getting quality essences. Use at least 45% (90 proof) alcohol or else they get cloudy.

Absintheliquor.com have four essences available to buy:-

- A classic verte Absinthe essence
- An orange flavored essence that contains natural orange oil.
- A strong essence that makes a strong Absinthe. This one contains more wormwood, 55 mg thujone in a bottle.
- A crystal clean and clear Absinthe essence employed for making La Bleue style Absinthes.

Rumor tells they will have 4 more the nearest days, among those Blue Absinthe.

These essences are available individually or as part of a kit to make 14 bottles of Absinthe. Bottle labels and a measure are also part of the Kit. Absintheliquor.com is also a good place to find replica of Absinthe spoons and glasses.

How do I make Absinthe? Well, the most economical way is to use an essence,.

A Wine Cellar - What Do You Need To Know?

Subscribe To Our Feed

Setting up your own wine cellar can help in keeping your prized collection of wine protected. In order to age properly and to mature the delicate layers of taste as desired, wine should be stored in a cellar away from the low humidity, temperature changes and imperfect storage the majority of the average home provides.

Small-scale or elaborate, a wine cellar should have the following components:

• proper insulation
• storage to protect and display the bottles
• adequate temperature controls
• proper lighting levels

Your wine cellar can be an expression of your taste - perhaps you simply want practicality, and as much storage in a small space as possible. Alternately, you may want a show piece where you can entertain friends and sample wines in elegant comfort. Keep your needs in mind when designing your cellar.

Also note that a wine cellar need not be reserved for a country estate, as people from all walks of life who enjoy a fine bottle of wine build or have wine cellars installed.

You will want to come to the design process with an understanding of how you view your wine collection. Some bottles resemble art pieces, so you can display them prominently. Sometimes you may desire to showcase a rare vintage, or instead decorate your space with wine-related arts or crafts that bring ambience to the space.

A range of storage methods sympathetically combined will give your wine cellar the most versatility. You can invest in modular storage systems that assemble in a customized fashion, or you can have a carpenter create the storage (this can be the more expensive option).

Simple storage racks (in wood or metal) will make sure that the wine remains efficiently ventilated and separated. You may also want an area set aside for wine accessories, like glasses, corkscrews, bottle openers and wine chillers or buckets.  Your wine cellar can also have essentially decorative elements in the form of handcrafted doors or mood lighting.

Red wines benefit most from being stored in a cellar, in particular varieties that acquire flavoring from long-term storage. Most people imagine that cellars need to be located in the basement or else under the house, when in fact they can actually be set up in any part of the house as long as the temperature and humidity levels can be effectively controlled. Make your wine cellar a genuine expression of your passion for wine.

Tips About Food Wine

Subscribe To Our Feed

white wine

If you are one of the thousands of people who don’t know a lot about wine, then this article is for you. Here, you will learn a little something about food wine and what wines should be pared with what foods. It is impossible to learn everything at once, but this will steer you in the right direction. You no longer have to belong to the uninformed masses.

The old rule that white wine is best with white meats and that red wine is best with red meats still stands today. Although things are a little more complicated now, it is still a good beginning rule. Another rule to follow in most cases for food wine is that each taste should be counteractive. What this means is that each taste of food or wine should completely mask the taste of the other. Food wines are supposed to enhance the food’s taste by acting as a palate cleanser, making each bite of food taste as good as the first. And of course, it is vice versa for the wine flavor. If you can taste the flavor of the wine or food over the other item, then you probably are working with a bad match. It is harder to match food and wine now because so many different flavors of food get worked into a single dish. The best rule for these cases is that the body of the wine should match the food. Heavier foods get heavier wines and vice versa.

The main determination for food wine combinations is the balance of sweetness, acidity and bitterness of both the food and wine. It is pretty easy to figure out what wine should go with what foods by considering the wine and food characteristics. If a sweet food is being served, pair it with a sweeter wine. For bitter foods, a more bitter wine is in order. The best way to determine the acidity of a food is to determine if it would go better with more acid added. For example, adding lemon to a fish means that a more acidic wine should be consumed. Some common white wines that are acidic are: Rieslings, most sparkling wines and white Bordeauxs. Acidic red wines include: Gamays, Pinot Noirs and Sangioveses. Sweet white wines include: White Zinfandels, other forms of Rieslings and Chenin Blancs. Sweet red wines can include: Port and Lambrusco. There are not many bitter white wines, but there are some bitter red wines. These can include, red Zinfandels, Merlots and Cabernet Sauvignons.

Now you know the basics about food wine and how to pair wines with different foods. There is still a lot more information out there, so if you want to learn more, then you should pursue those options. Joining a wine club is a good option, as well as just doing independent research. This will help you to become quite knowledgeable about wines.

Buying wine online – finding your perfect bottle

Subscribe To Our Feed

Drinking wine has long been a favourite at meal times or simply to enjoy by itself; with the wide range of varieties there are many tastes to enjoy. One of the interesting aspects of wine is that it is made all over the world and therefore offers an abundance of distinct tastes to be enjoyed.

It is for this reason that buying and tasting wines from many different countries and even regions within those countries is a part of the enjoyment of wine appreciation.  For the average wine buff though we are confined to what the supermarkets or the off-licenses have stocked.

Whilst many supermarkets will have wines from favoured countries such as Spain, France and an increasingly popular choice in the UK: Australian wines. In recent times supermarkets have been importing more Australian wines than French which may be surprising to some.

The reason for this may be the battle between the “old world” wines and the “new world” wines, Old world wines refer to the traditional wine producing countries such as France and other Mediterranean surrounding countries.  New world wines are the new breed of wine producing countries such as Australia, South Africa and numerous South American countries.

The option to buy discount wine online has been a recent trend that has opened up many wine lover’s range of available wines, where they are able to import lesser known wines from any country they choose.  Buying online is considered a very safe way to buy wine as many retailers assure that the wine will be authentic and delivered safely.

There are many online merchants who will sell wines you may not find in the shops as well as some specialist retailers who stock various vintage bottles for those looking to spend a little extra on brands such as Dom Perignon Vintage 2000 and Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label.

Buying wine online in bulk means that you should be able to buy in a good supply for your own personal wine cellar and buying by the case can often offer discounts.  So if you like your wine and would like more than the supermarket offers then perhaps you should look into browsing online wine retailers for your next bottle.

The Technique by Which White Zinfandel is Made

Subscribe To Our Feed

White zin is a beloved wine for scores of individuals because of its fruit-filled characteristics and wide-ranging charm. The wine is referred to as “white” and a lot of individuals believe that this is a mistake because of its pink shade. In spite of this, that is the right name for the product. It is not actually a blush because the method of formulating the ultimate product is dissimilar in a white zinfandel than in a blush wine.  Have you ever wished to sit back with a nice glass of wine after a tough day of niche marketing?  If so, find out more about the bracing tang of white zin.

The zinfandel grape is actually red and it normally makes a red wine as its ultimate result. The makers of white zinfandel modify the winemaking plan a bit in the course of crafting the pink-colored favorite among conventional wine drinkers. The skins of the grape contain the hue. When the outsides are left in for the duration of the fermentation procedure, the final effect is a red-colored cocktail.

The white zinfandel is pink in hue because the outsides are left in the fusion for a tiny amount of time then they are taken out. Taking out the skins in the fermentation time results in a creation that has a pink quality because only a little of the element that holds the tint (the skins) are only there for a minute span of time. Once they are removed, the tint is also. Only a tinge of the red grape is apparent in the final product.

This pink wine has turned out to be a preference among the majority but various wine enthusiasts in the know are a little turned off by the poor little white zin. Many wines are of finer excellence and taste but these wines also have to be acquired to match the palate. Few individuals adore their very first glass of fine wine. White zinfandel is a wonderful connection between the casual wine drinker and the knowledgeable wine enthusiast.  For example, like getting a personal trainer certification is the opening move to building a viable training company, so white zin is the primary step to a life of wine appreciation.

After the feel for a good white zinfandel is gotten many propose progressing to another drinkable wine. Riesling is my primary preference since it is very enjoyable and smooth on the palate. It is not totally as sweet as a port wine or a white zinfandel but it gives a great way to discover more complex wines.  They are a terrific way to rest if you are stressed, for instance by yeast infection symptoms.

Once you pick up a taste for a good Riesling you might turn your nose up at the lowly white zin but this would be a mistake. There are a lot of fantastic wines created by the one of a kind process. As a matter of fact white merlot has come on to the market. Pink is a hue for all seasons after all.

Wine Refrigerators – What to Consider before Purchasing

Subscribe To Our Feed

The birth of wine refrigerators has been a welcome addition. Most of us simply don’t have space, nor can we afford a walk in, built in cellar. Happily, we can now access these handy storage systems  at virtually any size or price. If you have made the move to join a wine club, then one of these appliances will be needed to properly store your monthly deliveries.

It’s no secret that we’ve all grown in our appreciation of  wines these days.  No matter if you’re a dedicated Red Wine enthusiast, or simply enjoy a chilled White Wine on a hot day, the days of  Baby Duck & other utterly gross boxed wines are long gone.

Nowadays just about everyone has a  supply of their favorites on hand in their homes, but therein lies a problem, just where do you store that precious liquid.

Many people that enjoy both Red & Whites will look for a “dual zone” wine refrigerator, where each zone can be individually temperature controlled, or on occasion it makes sense to simply purchase two units.

Like all things you get what you pay for. The more expensive units will  be better insulated, have special treated glass panels which help maintain a constant temperature, as well as better control humidity levels. These can be particularly important if your appliance is stored in an area withnon constant temperatures, maybe a garage for example.

If you’re planning on having your unit within the home, the décor of the wine refrigerator will be something you’ll need to consider. Many models are actually like fine pieces of furniture, with embossed glass panels, decorative woods, & subdued backlighting.

Wine enjoyment is a social experience, and it’s especially nice to have your collection appropriately displayed, and thus  a center of conversation with your friends.

Size matters! If you’re just starting to be purchasing & storing wines good advice would be to buy a wine refrigerator larger than you had initially thought necessary. However if you dwell in an apartment where there is not an abundance of space, there are may “apartment sized” units available, from “Counter Top”, to “Under the Counter” models.

Do you imbibe in a wine from a variety of countries? Enjoy some fine champagne? Then you’ll appreciate getting a unit that features adjustable shelving, as many of these come in non standard sized bottles.

Much more for much less?  If the words “some assembly required” doesn’t scare you, then consider purchasing a unit that requires a little assembly. Often the savings you’ll reap by doing this will enable you to afford a much larger unit than you would have otherwise. Often you can store up to 400 bottles in perfect conditions and in a fairly inexpensive way.

Are you a dedicated collector? Need optimum storage & temperature control for anywhere from 1000 – 2500 bottles? Then a modular wine room may be what you should consider. These rooms are, prepackaged, relatively simple to assemble, and best of all, due to them arriving in pieces, can be assembled in a room, (such as basement), that you would never be able to fit a ready assembled unit into.

Now that you’ve an idea of what your needs are we highly recommend you visit the Wine Enthusiast, our choice for a huge variety of  wine refrigerators , with every conceivable make, model and price range.

Cheers!
